Snapshots!
Aug 7, 2010 by Violet
Evening everyone and welcome to another edition of random snapshots from my life :D
Let’s start with some out and about photos
These horse and carriage sets are everywhere in the city, some of them are really beautiful though it always makes me a little sad to see the drivers wearing Akubras >_<
Also the buildings here are really old and pretty!

Ok I think I have some kind of weird obsession with architecture so enough of that now There is a free tram which we worked out goes right from near our place to the Victoria markets! WIN! It’s mostly for tourists so it’s all old and pretty too. Catching the tram to get groceries… And here is James on the same day being unable to take a non-scary photo XD This was the best of 3 I took! This is my favorite stall at the Victoria Markets… the fresh pasta store! I loooooove pasta and I’ve never tasted such delicious pasta as this! Super yummy and super good, I want to learn to make my own one day. While we were taking that photo the lovely stall owner from the shop next door insisted on taking a photo of James and I together… And then one in front of his own store… And then one in front of his other store… So friendly! He was a really nice guy and his cheese store had a little model bicycle which completely working parts because of the Tour De France! I got to meet up with Vanessa at Theobroma and have awesome hot chocolate :D She is just the loveliest girl ever! We drank so much chocolate it was crazy! Mine was so big it came with it’s own warming stand *_* And zomg she brought me this huuuge box of presents as a welcome! My favorite part is the little foil package in the back, it grows real clovers!! I can’t wait to set it up in a window box I’m just waiting for a little warmer weather :D So thoughtful of her! Celeste and I went to the Round She Goes vintage markets which were very very crushingly busy and fun. Afterward one of James’ life long dreams came true… He got to visit the USA food store! He’s always wishing and fantasizing about the food from America so he stocked up on some old classics like… Sloppy joes >_< Very pleased with himself: Very unconvinced: I’ve been doing lots and lots of crafty projects too! I’m planning to add some of the deco I’ve been doing to the Store soon, I just need to find a day free! I’ve also gotten a whole lots of new nail supplies to play with so expect more fun to come :D Alice made green tea shortbread and she shared it with me! Yummy! So yummy in fact that I ate them so fast I forgot to take any other photos >_< I met up very quickly with Nitty after she got back from Japan too… She brought me the cutest little nail stand back from Japan for my birthday! We met at my very favorite cafe ever the N.Lee Bakery Cafe. The owner saw us taking photos of each other and as they were closing up he ushered us behind the counter so we could take photos pretending to be baristas! How insanely nice is that?? He took a whole bunch of photos for us and the staff there are always so nice. They make delicious hot chocolate and the large which is maaaasive is only $3.80 :D James has been doing lots and lots of baking now that his parents brought down the bread maker. His favorite at the moment is pizza but he makes the dough from scratch *_* Way too much effort for me! On the way home from the Koko Black meet we spotted a wedding party with cute classic cars! People here love to take photos, I’m used to people asking for photos because when I wore Lolita it would happen all the time. Not used to people asking while I’m wearing Hime Gyaru though! I went shopping with James’ Mum while she was visiting and when she went to the bathroom there was a line up of people taking photos with me… it was a very surreal experience! One of the ladies thought it was very odd when I asked to take a photo with her too just so I could prove to James’ Mum I wasn’t making it up! XD On the way home I spotted the man cleaning out and maintaining the photo booth near Flinders Station… it reminded me so much of the movie Amelie I couldn’t resist taking a photo of him in pin-hole mode!! Teenage fantasy checked off the list! I got to have a very delicious dumpling lunch with the ever beautiful Super Kawaii Mama before she jetted off to Queensland for Greasefest. I made her a set of nails as a present and she surprised me with some earrings! And I’ll leave you now with my two favorite snacks at the moment. It may just be a cheap home brand but this caramel hot chocolate is seriously awesome! I like it with whipped cream :D And I’ve been eating lots of the little green tea/chocolate bites. Healthy diet as always XD I hope you enjoyed these snapshots from the last few weeks, what have you all been up to? |

I know, totally cute right? I completely love all of the presents from you though, we ate the pop rocks the other night and much fun was had!
Last Halloween we made a pinata filled with poprocks. One of my friends had never eaten poprocks before, and it was hilarious to watch.
Omg I can’t imagine not having eaten pop rocks! I always enjoy feeding wasabi to unsuspecting people too XD
Superrrrr cute photos!
I can’t believe people lined up to take your pic! [Although at the same time, I totally can believe it :D]

I’ve ridden on a horse carriage before but it was on New York rodes ( – _ – )so it wasn’t all that peaceful ~ cars zooming by made the horse jumpy.
Love the architecture pictures!

I am so lucky to have such lovely friends! Everyone has been so lovely and welcoming to us :D
I love the architecture in Melbourne but I adore the little dog toy in your box of goodies. Any chance we can see his face ?? I have made a note to pick up some caramel hot chocolate while I’m in Sydney. I understand James excitement at the USA food store, we have an international market here and they keep Australian and English foods even Tim Tams yeah !!!!
And what have I been up too, getting ready to pop home for a couple of weeks and get some decent chocolate, always a healthy diet here too !!!…..hehe……….xxx
Oh yes the little doggy is adorable, he’s best friends with a cat one of those toys I’ve had since I was 3yrs old! I think I’ll do a post with all of them set up so you can see photos of his face then :D Omg I totally forgot Timtams are an Aus only thing :O Stock up on all the new varieties while you’re here!! Yay for coming home <3
Wow, everyone sounds so nice in melbourne, the horses and the trams are so beautiful. I want to move there too now! I was pining to move back to Brisbane but now it looks like a pile of crap in comparison. You have such a talent for sniffing out awesome places though, Doesn’t matter where I live, I never seem to notice all the awesome nook and cranny stores :<
Everyone here is very lovely and friendly, we are just having a blast! Brisbane was ok but I don’t think I would want to go back any time soon. Aww I’m sure you could find some cool stores, it’s just about digging and digging until you find gold :D
The American Grocery Store is so funny!
Arika recently blogged about..Inception Review
It’s waaay expensive but worth it to make a homesick boy happy!
Oh! You know I don’t think I realized he was American. I suppose I would miss Sloppy Joes then too.
He’s actually English but be spent 10 years growing up in America so he really misses all of the food ^_^ Especially Captain Krunch!
melbourne looks soo much like london even down to the horse and carriage. have u ever visited the uk violet? 1 day you must come if u haven’t been xx
I’ve been to the UK quite a few times as most of my family is there. Melbourne is actually quite English in style though James is always saying it reminds him of Europe!
Hi! Yay photos of Melbourne! I actually saw you the other day (Wednesday I think) on the corner of Bourke and Swanston Streets! I was in Melbourne for 3 nights for a short wee holiday and I pointed you and James out to my boyfriend and was like “I read her blog!”.
Haha. Anyway your shoes were super cute and I would have said hi but I’m pretty nervous/shy.
Sarah recently blogged about..I can see you!
Oh really? You should have come and said hi!! I promise I’m not scary ^_^ Thanks so much for commenting and reading!

Aww thanks! I will definitely try to do one a week now, though I will have to get in the habit of taking more photos XD
All of that hot chocolate looks SOOOOO good! These snapshots are the best, I love seeing different places!
Thanks Kate! I’m really glad people are enjoying my silly photos!
a few years ago (8 i think) I went to get my photos taken in one of those booths and saw a guy cleaning them, he finished and walked away and i kept thinking he looked familiar. I then noticed that the photo samples where of him pulling funny faces. It really reminded me of Amelie!
XD That is awesome!!!
Great photos! Looks like you’re settling into Melbourne really well – its a great city huh :-D How cool that people love taking photos with you, it must make you feel awesome :-)))

It really is an awesome city and the people rock, especially awesome artists like yourself! <3
Isn’t melbourne it just so pretty!? I could wander around Melbourne for ages. I discover something new each time I go into the city. I love Chinatown with all the little Asian shops. Your friends give you such beautiful things! I’ve seen packets like the packet clovers but you grow poppies!
Oh poppies are so pretty, I would love to have a window box filled with them!
