Pompom Hair Band Tutorial

Mar 15, 2010 by

Lately everywhere I look there are pompom hair bands so I thought why not do a pompom hair band tutorial!

Seriously it’s hard to turn around without seeing some kind of variation! I’ve been seeing them worn in hair and as bracelets or tied to bags. At first I couldn’t stand them but they’ve been slowly growing on me… and now I think they’re cute! The only thing is that here in Aus because they are more hard to come by they are very expensive, who wants to pay $20 for a hair tie?!

So I decided to make my own and it took around 10 minutes.

  1. “Wear it like a normal person” -ROFL. Sweet puppy dog too :) Pom poms have been growing on me too, and I almost wore strings of pompoms in white and blue wrapped around the horns of my wig – but settled for the eyeballs instead.

    • :D Oh that would have been cool but I think that the eyeballs went much better with the outfit! Love!

  2. Everytime I look at your blog you make me want to be crafty! I need to go to a craft store soon and soothe my crafting beast ^_^v

    • Haha glad to e of service ma’am <3 Hopefully you can find something easy like this to cut your craft teeth on then you'll be sewing whole outfits in no time!

This is such a brilliant idea! I usually try to make things rather than buy them, but for some reason just couldn’t come up with a good way to make these pompom things :-P Thanks so much for the lovely tutorial!

  5. that’s cute! I saw them on Cheesie’s hair and was wondering were she got it :D
Now I just have to find some pompom’s XD

    • ^_^ I think Cheesie bought hers, it’s made of slightly different pom poms more fluffy than fuzzy… if that makes sense XD

This is so cute! What a great idea to make them yourself. Most places sell them way over priced. SKM’s dog is such a cute model :)

    • Heehee SKM’s doggie was the cutest little thing ever! Yeah I can’t stand paying for things I could do myself ^_^

  8. Oh, Violet! :)

now I can make my own custom to my outfits. HAHA. Course I don’t wanna over do? Maybe there’s a chouchou gomu tutorial so I can make more hairbows. HOMNOMNOM? ;3

Also hair tutoriaaaaal!! O_O I am GAGA for your hair!!

    • Yay! I’m glad you enjoyed it! If you make some you have to show me :D Okokokok hair tutorial soon! I have to wait and dye my roots first LOL. Yap I can do whatever tutorial you want, just send me a picture of what kind of bow you mean ^_^

  9. If you were to have a chance to change your looks, would you want to look Asian? Just curious though… ;)

    • Hi Xian! Interesting question! No, if I could magically change my appearance I wouldn’t want to look more Asian. While I definitely think there are many beautiful Asian women out there, I equally think there are many beautiful Caucasian women out there too. I am very happy with the way that I look ^_^

  10. you are like a god of making cute things!

  11. Loli

I love your red and white polka dot dress! May I ask what brand it is?

I can’t wait for my hair to get long enough for me to use cool hair ties too!

    • Aww thank you ^_^ You mean the one at the very end of the post? It was a vintage piece given to me by Candice aka Super Kawaii Mama, I think she got it off ebay. Actually I think it is hand sewn, which is awesome and the little spots are actually tiny little sail boats! It’s one of my favorites at the moment :D

  12. My friend bought one for me in Japan and I’ve been wanting to get more, but they’re $8 here, so I’m too cheap to buy them. I’ll definitely have to try this tutorial!
