Alice in Wonderland Nail Art

Mar 19, 2010 by

The way we get to the end of this story is a little long and rambling but it ends in Alice in Wonderland nail art so I’m sure you won’t mind ;)

A few months ago my Mum went on holiday to the Gold Coast and discovered a shop called “Del Sol” which makes products that change colour in the sun. Very 1990′s right? Well that was my attitude until she mentioned that they made nail polished that change colour in the sun! :D

She brought me home 4 of their polishes to try out. I was a bit skeptical at first but they actually change surprisingly well!

These are the colours in normal inside light:
Red with silver glitter
Blue with a pearly finish
Clear with silver glitter
Pink with a pearly finish

  1. ooooooooomg cute max!!!!!!!!!!

  2. I think you’re selling yourself short, Violet – these look amazing! Yes, the rabbit, but also the playing cards :)Admittedly I didn’t see the hatter at first. If this effort is just “so-so” in your eyes, I’d love to see what you come up with next!

    • Aww you made me feel much better about them, I suppose we’re all our own harshest critics. Trust me the next ones are going to be spectacular! :D

  3. Love it super cute!!! I love Alice in Wonderland… How rad nail polish that changes color!!
    <3

  4. Damn girl! The rabbit is so cute! You have amazing skills and I agree with Leanne, you’re selling yourself short. A first attempt this is just stellar, another reason for you to do my nails :P

    • Very cute ^_^ Haha if you want a set of the nails like these I would be more than happy to commission some for you, just email me- violetlebeaux AT gmail.com

  5. Oh wow! These are great!!! O____O!!! I can’t believe these! I had seen some Cheshire ones earlier this week and they weren’t that great. Too close to Disney, and the colors were really …oddly done. It wasn’t very stable.

;-; YOURS LOOKS AMAZING! Especially since you didn’t go out of your way to force the Cheshire on the nail in whole. The mystery face is more than enough!! :3

    • XD Seriously they’re not that good! I do really like all the colours that I used in here, I think the Cheshire kitty is almost my favorite nail over all. You’re right, the whole kitty on the nail would have been waaay too much, his smile is the most important part :D

  6. That’s awesomee! :D

  7. Lauren

I love the cheshire cat! So cool.

  8. Kari

These nails are so awesome!! If you hadn’t told us it was your first time using 3D acrylic, I wouldn’t have known ^.^ I thought it was really well executed, and I especially like the white rabbit :D

    • Aww thank you so much, I feel much better about them now ^_^ I really want to learn more about acrylic so I can do even more creative things! The little rabbit is my favorite, even when I get rid o the nails I think I’m going to have to keep him!

  9. I know this is going to sound sycophantic, but they look brilliant, and you really are too hard on yourself! I can just imagine how they’ll look after you’ve practiced if you don’t like these ones as much! My favorite is the Cheshire Cat. Oh, and I really must see that movie!

    • Haha I think I expect a lot more from myself than other people do… but I think that’s a good thing because I am constantly expecting myself to improve! I haven’t seen the new movie either, I’m waiting for the hype to die down >_< Yay for the kitty!

  10. Those are so CUTE! love them :)

Violet, that’s a really good first attempt! Your drawing skills are really good. I think you’ll just need more practice to get use to working with acrylic powder. I am sure with practice, your next attempt will be much better. The nail polish is amazing! Do you know if I’ll be able to buy them online?

  13. Deb

I think your nails look pretty good for a first attempt at 3D acrylics!

I love the colour change nail polish, very 90s but still so cool, LOL.

  14. ” -I currently suck at 3D acrylics but I will practice and get much better! ”

ARE YOU CRAZY? These are so awesome! I don’t know how you can do these things >_<" I try and I fail miserably ):

  15. SUPER SUPER SUPER GORGEOUS nails!!!!!!

I need to practise on my acrylic too, except it freaking smells :( Don’t you get that problem >__<

And what the hell? That nailpolish is sooo awesome!!!! I want some!!!!!!!!!

    • Ugh yes the smell is so overpowering! James absolutely HATES it… to be honest I’ve been smelling it so long that I kind of like it now LOL. Yay colour change polishes :D

  16. re: No I wouldn’t mind at all! :) Your welcome to use the picture for your Gallery ^_^

Those colours are awesome! I love gimmicky stuff like that. I remember loving those holographic nail colours a while ago. Good luck with the 3D acrylic practice too :-D

  20. I like your white rabbit and hat for the mad hatter—I’m looking into getting my first set of nails done, and one day I want to use them as a medium in sending a message to someone in secret. Long story, but Alice, The Matrix and the White Rabbit and Mad Hatter all have special significance (if he remembers, which I’m sure he should! ;-) ). I went looking to see what’s out there and found your site.

Keep up the good work. :-D
    Allison recently blogged about..Well- I…

  21. Thanks so much :) Holographic nail colours = win!
